Vincent J. LaRosa

"The hard part about writing a novel is finishing it." - Hemingway

About Me

Vincent J. LaRosa is an independent author based in Southern New Jersey.

With a background as a dedicated computer professional by day, he channels his creative energy into reviving the thrilling spirit of classic pulp fiction by night.

He is the author of "Tesla & Malone: Lightning's Call, Book One", a steampunk-infused tale of post-Civil War action and intrigue, and the creator of, and contributing writer to "The MG Pulp Anthology, Book One" (The Masculine Geek Pulp Anthology, Book One), an ongoing collaborative collection that celebrates high-octane, masculine-oriented pulp adventures designed to captivate and excite readers much like the genre's golden age originals.

Through his work, Vincent aims to deliver bold, entertaining stories that honor the legacy of pulp while bringing fresh energy to modern audiences.

Tesla and Malone | Lightning's Call | Book One

June 6th, 1884. It's summer in New York City. All is quiet and peaceful. Or is it? An ancient evil is about to be unleashed on the unsuspecting island populace. Former Civil War cavalry sergeant Denis Malone struggles to live a normal civilian life but the nightmares persist and gain strength. What do these haunting visions mean?

Meanwhile - Nikola Tesla, his eight years long search for the Cult of Five Stars nearly over, has just arrived in the city from overseas.

Not a penny to his name, the young man has only his inventions and his wits to combat the ancient evil that is about to be summoned down from the sky. Can he find the Cult Leader in time to stop the ritual? Or will the girl be sacrificed and horrors run free upon the earth, starting with New York City?

With unlikely aid in the form of Denis Malone, Tesla is about to find out!

"The history of my life is the history of the struggle between an overwhelming urge to write and a combination of circumstances bent on keeping me from it."
F. Scott Fitzgerald

Out in the world

What readers say

"The Autumn sun cast long, slanted shadows across the city as several Zeppelins scratched the skies above us. I puffed on my Cuban cigar, a gift from a former client, and squinted up at the lights. The Raven supper club. Swanky, classy, and front for many unsavory, and various nefarious dealings. The proprietress, Lara, was a sexy dark-haired temptress of dubious morals and high business acumen."
- Vincent (Me).
"I learned never to empty the well of my writing, but always to stop when there was still something there in the deep part of the well, and let it refill at night from the springs that fed it."
Ernest Hemingway
